Powernet’s economical and ecological grid inverter solution for elevators

Challenge

The excess braking energy elevators generate is traditionally converted to heath in braking resistors. The customer came to us with a need to reduce the energy waste and at the same time, create an environmentally friendly grid inverter solution.

Powernet Optimal Solution

Based on the existing inverter platform we created a new optimized solution for the customer’s specific DC link voltage. Our microprocessor-controlled design makes the handling of new market requirements easier.

Benefits for our customer

Our solution was beneficial for the customer in several ways. As it enables the excess braking energy to be recovered and used again in the elevator system, up to 25% of total energy - that would otherwise be wasted - can be utilized. Our solution brings considerable cost savings for our customers and makes their equipment genuinely environmentally friendly compared to traditional competitors.
