Efficient power solution for industrial frequency converter

Challenge

Our customer required a reliable power solution for a frequency converter. The challenges lied in the high input voltage varying from 300 to 1100VDC, the very limited space available within the converter and the high ambient temperature circumstances.

Powernet Optimal Solution

Using the latest component technology available, we designed a MOSFET-based solution. Since MOSFETs cannot normally be used in such high voltage, we had to create a design topology that enabled the technology.

Benefits for the customer

We managed to create a robust, highly efficient unit with excellent cooling properties for the extremely challenging conditions. Instead of an external large cabinet our customer received a built-in power solution that saved both cost and space in the actual converter. This power unit was originally planned just as an option but it quickly became a standard part of every delivery.
